Urban Beach Tour 2009

The all new Urban Beach Tour is launching in 2009 in Milton Keynes from 23rd-26th July.

Following on from the RFU's hugely successful Beach Rugby programme in 2008 which culminated at the Scrum on the Beach at Trafalgar Square, we've decided to cast our net wider this year and incorporate Beach Rugby and Beach Soccer into our Urban Beach programme.

Over the past 3 years the Urban Beach Tour has been successfully established as major part of the annual UK Beach Volleyball calendar. Each year the tour has involved events across the UK and starred guest players from the European and World Tour.

The Urban Beach Tour has been recognised as a key showcase event for the sport of Beach Volleyball which will build awareness and improve the standards of UK players. The programme has been timetabled to facilitate the involvement of European and World Tour players as part of the Professional tournament of the programme with world ranked men's and women's pairs competing. The Urban Beach Tour provides a catalyst and incentive for UK players to significantly improve their UK and European rankings.

The sport is fantastically entertaining from beginning to end with the court, a stage and the players acting upon it. Beach Volleyball has enjoyed impressive growth throughout the world in recent years and under the auspices of the FIVB (Federation Internationale de Volleyball) the sport has become the most popular world summer sport.
